What are implants?
Dental implants are a permanent tooth replacement. Our implants are made to match your natural teeth in color, and they restore patients’ healthy bite and smile after trauma, disease, or age causes a tooth or teeth to be removed.
They’re easier to care for than alternatives, such as dentures, and are more comfortable, feeling and behaving just as your natural teeth would.
How are implants placed?
A tooth root implant is a small post made of titanium which is placed into the bone socket of the missing tooth. As the jawbone heals, it grows around the implanted metal post, anchoring it securely in the jaw.
After several weeks, the implant becomes bonded to the jawbone a small connector post is attached to the post to securely hold the new tooth. Then, I attach a replacement crown to the post.
Which patients are good candidates for implants?
If you're considering implants, you should have healthy gums and enough bone to hold the implant, which I will determine during a consultation. You must maintain a commitment to excellent oral hygiene and regular cleanings at our office. Maintaining oral health is even more important for implant patients.
