What are clear aligner orthodontics?

Clear aligners are a series of trays customized to fit your mouth. They slowly move your teeth into a more pleasing or correct position as you move through your specially crafted set of trays.

They are worn 24 hours per day, and you can speak, sleep, and drink water with them in place. One of the things our patients love most about clear aligners is that they can be taken out to eat.

How do Invisalign® or ClearCorrect treatment differ from traditional metal braces?

The trays are clear, and are not permanently attached to the teeth. There are no wires or rubber bands, and you can take them out at any time.

The benefit of having removable orthodontic appliances is that you may fully clean your teeth without working around wires or other metal. Furthermore, you won’t be left with cement residue on your teeth’s surface after removal, which can happen to patients with traditional braces.

Clear aligners are ideal for adults or college-aged kids who might want a more discreet way to correct their smile. They’re easy to use, and my patients often say they forget they’re wearing them!

Which patients are good candidates for Invisalign® or ClearCorrect?

Adults are best suited for this type of orthodontia and bite correction. People who have mild crowding and need minor adjustment are usually a good fit. If you’ve had braces in the past but have experienced some movement after traditional braces were removed, clear aligners are an excellent option.
